Heavy Base Tawa (Skillet) - Curved base, 28cm

Tawa, also referred to as Tava, holds significant importance in Indian cooking, serving as a fundamental flat griddle for creating a variety of traditional flatbreads like roti, chapati, naan, and paratha. With its heavy metal base, the Tawa ensures that heat is spread uniformly, resulting in perfectly cooked flatbreads. Note: this tawa is slightly curved at the bottom and therefore is not suitable for induction hob.

Iron utensils naturally develop spots of rusts when not in regular use, this is normal. These utensils would need to be cleaned of such rust and seasoned before using them first time, per the method below. After this first time seasoning, wash them with mild soap, when ever there appears rust spots, let them fully dried before storing.

To prepare Iron tawa for the first use:

1. Wash it with warm soapy water and dry it.
2. Put this tawa on the stove at high heat for a few minutes.
3. Let it cool down a little. Take a cloth soaked in cooking oil and wipe it over the inside surface of the pan.
4. Tawa is made with iron, therefore an uneven look and rustic surface is normal. 

Do not use abrasive cleaners for cleaning the mild-steel utensils. This mild-steel tawa is not suitable for Dish-Washer.
